CURRICULUM  
         
Orthodox Theology within the Church means believing in the divine revelation and its manifestation in religious life. Theology as a field of study at the university aims at introducing the Orthodox Tradition, i.e. the thinking and teaching of the Church as well as the theological thinking based on it. Orthodox Theology emphasizes the joint influence of belief and mystery which opens new vistas for research. The basic studies acquaint the student with the history and theology of the Orthodox Church, to the present.

Distance learning course
Students may study the Basic Study Unit of Orthodox Theology (25 cr) at their own pace, completing assignments and corresponding with the instructor and the tutor via e-mail, fax or letter. For each assignment which a student sends to the open university of Joensuu he/she must fill in the title page of the assignment. The instructor will evaluate the assignment, give the grade and send the title page of the assignment with this information to the student at his/her home address.

Fee
The fee for the distance learning course of the Basic Study Unit of Orthodox Theology (25 cr) is 350 euros.
